Leader of the Week: Second Grade 2018

Your sweet second grade teacher asked me to write a letter to you for you to read during your leader of the week. It reminded me of the many letters I previously wrote to you here. I just realized you are finally old enough and able enough to read them, so I plan on showing you this blog on your birthday next week. You are going to be 8 years old. I can't believe it. Liz, you are the light of my life. I am so thankful you are mine. You have made my life richer in every way. Happy birthday sweet girl.

Here's your letter for you to save:

I will never forget the day I was 20 weeks pregnant and at my ultrasound convinced I was having a boy. I secretly wanted a little girl so bad that I had convinced myself it was a boy so I wouldn’t be disappointed. When the technician confirmed it was a girl, I began crying hysterically because I was going to get to have my sweet little Elizabeth that I had been daydreaming about for months. There are dozens of memories stored in my brain of you Lizzy, my amazingly sweet and caring girl. Figuring out which ones to highlight here is a challenge for sure, but I thought I would write you a poem to let you know how very special you are to daddy, Henry and me.

My sweet baby girl with eyes so blue, God sure blessed us when he gave us you. From your goofy jokes to your sassy spirit, when you tell a story, we’re anxious to hear it. We are always so blown away by your creative mind, but even more importantly we love you are kind. You truly have the biggest heart, you work so hard and are very smart. Watching you play sports has been such a treat, you give it your all and are fast on your feet. From softball to swimming to soccer and more, we feel such joy we didn’t have before. Life was a lot different without you here, days were quieter and far less dear. Daddy and I think the world of you and even that bratty brother does too. Your birthday is only a few weeks away and I can’t help but think back to that magical day, when I felt your sweet fingers wrapping around mine and knew I would love you till the end of time. We are so proud of you and want you to know that it has been the biggest gift watching you grow. You can do anything you set your mind to, so get out there and dream and know we will always love you.

Love,
Daddy, Mommy and Henry
