Thumb Sucking

A few days ago, March 26th to be exact, I watched my baby girl curl her fingers and place her tiny little thumb into her mouth. This was the first time, to my knowledge, she had sucked her thumb. As I watched her little eyes twinkle with joy from her new discovery, I felt equally delighted to see her display a trait from mommy. Up until this point, I was beginning to worry that we had somehow created a female clone of her daddy. Her bright blue eyes, fuzzy hair and little bow legs were not traits from mommy, for sure. I was an avid thumb sucker as a child and some of my fondest memories were snuggling with my blankie and thumb. I had spent the past four months wondering why she didn't get this trait. It was a great moment to witness a piece of me in this little person.

As I scrambled to find somewhere to record the date of this event, I realized I wanted to start a blog to lock away the precious daily memories that will all too quickly fade. So that is how the creation of Memories for E began, and I hope you will find joy in the daily discoveries of my baby E's first year and beyond.
