Tornado season

Dear E:

If you turn out to be terrified of storms, you can look back to Wednesday, May 25th, 2011. You and I were very scared about a tornado that hit in Sedalia, MO and was headed to Columbia. I strapped you into my bjorn, packed a survival kit consisting of water, food, diapers, wipes, batteries, flashlights and more, and threw a comforter, pillows and your infant bed mattress into the bathroom. We climbed in the tub and piled everything on top of us. And of all times to lose that dang binky (see earlier posts), I lost it just as we got situated. You were not having it. You cried and cried and cried. We were in there from about 2:15 to 2:45. I wonder how traumatizing this experience will turn out to be. Let's hope you don't remember :) Thankfully, not tornado hit and we were just fine.

I was more terrified than usual, as the deadliest tornado in American history hit Joplin, MO on Sunday night, ripping the town up into pieces. So far in your 6 months, you have survived the worst blizzard season and tornado season.

Here is what our sky looked like on Wed.
